Hunting Trip...

Some of the lads/men from church headed into the country for a back to nature weekend (kind of). After 4 wheel driving into our hut (not literally), we got on our backpacks, prepared the guns and headed for the kill! We were primarily hunting Thar (a goat like creature that lives in the mountains) and spent hours trekking around the hills………without spotting one! Oh well. We resorted to smaller (less meatier) creatures that were more abundant, such as possums and rabbits – and after everyone had got their kill, we made stew and ate them!! Without wanting to sound like a mna who has no respect for God’s creation – here’s a photo we took on the way home – doing some good old tree hugging!

Blessing in Disguise...

I was so blessed when I first came into New Zealand to be given a car on loan for my time here. The Mazda 121 had a lot of character, has been a chariot for many a friend and young person and soon developed the name “The Silver Bullet”. I was even more blessed when the owners of the car decided I’d had it so long, I may as well own it! Praise God! One day, while minding my own business, sat at the traffic lights, another car ploughs into the back of ‘the bullet’ leaving wrinkles all over its body. Thankfully both drivers were OK, but my old friend had more wrinkles than even Nivea could fix – so he was sent to car Heaven. Sad as it may sound, the lovely insurance people then gave me a cheque for much more than I could have sold the bullet for. Then with the help of a family friend, we were able to purchase this sporty looking (economical) Toyota for only slightly more than the insurance payout! A story of blessing, blessing, crash, blessing, blessing!!
